A – LÝ THUYẾT CÂU ĐIỀU KIỆN

Câu điều kiện loại 1

Câu điều kiện loại 1: là câu mà điều kiện có thực ở hiện tại. Điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai.

Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 1

If + S + V (hiện tại đơn), S + will + V (nguyên mẫu)

Eg: If I have time, I will watch a movie.

Câu điều kiện loại 2

Câu điều kiện loại 2: là câu điều kiện không có thực ở hiện tại. 

Điều kiện được đặt ra ở đây không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai, điều kiện đặt ra chỉ là một sự tưởng tượng, giả thiết, một mong muốn mà sự thỏa mãn thì hoàn toàn trái ngược với thực trạng ở hiện tại.

Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 2:
If + S + V (quá khứ), S + would + V (nguyên mẫu)

Eg: If I had 2000 USD, I would buy iPhone 12.

 

Câu điều kiện loại 3

Câu điều kiện loại 3: là câu điều kiện không có thực trong quá khứ. 

Điều kiện không thể xảy ra trong quá khứ, chỉ mang tính ước muốn trong quá khứ, một giả thiết trái ngược với thực trạng ở quá khứ.

Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 3:

If + S + had + P.P (quá khứ phân từ), S + would + have + P.P (quá khứ phân từ)

Eg: If I hadn’t been too drunk yesterday, I would haven’t kissed him that much.

Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp

Chúng ta có thể hiểu đơn giản rằng trong câu điều kiện hỗn hợp thì thời gian ở mệnh đề If không giống thời gian trong mệnh đề chính. Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp có 2 loại chính là:

- Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1: là sự kết hợp của câu điều kiện loại 3 và loại 2

+ Cách dùng: Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1 để diễn tả giả thiết trái ngược với quá khứ, nhưng kết quả thì ngược với hiện tại

+ Cấu trúc câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 1
If + S + had + V3/V-ed, S + would + V

Eg: If I had taken his advice, I would become a richman now.

- Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2: là sự kết hợp của câu điều kiện loại 2 và loại 3

+ Cách dùng: Câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2 để diễn tả giả thiết trái ngược với thực tại và kết quả trái ngược với quá khứ.

+ Cấu trúc câu điều kiện hỗn hợp loại 2

 If + S + V-ed, S + would + have + V3/V-ed.

Eg: If I were you, I would have learned English earlier.

Đảo ngữ của câu điều kiện

Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 1

Nếu trong câu có “should” ở mệnh đề “if”, thì đảo “should” lên đầu câu.

Eg: If you should meet her, please ask her to call me at once.

→ Should you meet her, please ask her to call me at once.

Nếu trong câu không có “should”, chúng ta phải mượn “should”

Eg: If he has free time, he’ll play tennis.

→ Should he have free time, he‟ll play tennis.

Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 2

Cấu trúc: Nếu trong câu có “were” ở mệnh đề “if” thì đảo “were” lên đầu câu và bỏ “if” đi.

Eg: If I were a bird, I would fly.

→ Were I a bird, I would fly.

Nếu trong câu không có động từ “were” thì mượn “were” và dùng “to V”

Eg: If I learnt Russian, I would read a Russian book.

→ Were I to learn Russian, I would read a Russian book.


Đảo ngữ câu điều kiện loại 3

Đảo trợ động từ của thì quá khứ hoàn thành

Eg: If he had trained hard, he would have won the match.

→ Had he trained hard, he would have won the match.

 

Chú ý: Ở dạng phủ định, “not” được đặt sau chủ ngữ:

Eg: Had it not been so late, we would have called you.


Cách dùng với unless

_ Unless cũng thường được dùng trong câu điều kiện: “Unless = If....not....”

Eg: If you hadn’t suggested it, I wouldn’t have phoned him.

→ Unless you’d suggested it, I wouldn’t have phoned him.
